If you have an electronic passport (or e-passport) you might be able to skip the immigration line in Auckland. Unfortunately, we didn’t know. So we stood in a very long line instead! E-passports have been issued in the USA starting in 2007, so most US passport holders have them. As long as you have the symbol on your passport under the name of the country or region you live in, you have an e-passport!

If you’re not flying with a USA passport, the e-passport rules might be different. Anyway, if you have the symbol, spot the electronic entry machines and try to get in faster than we did!
